Ms. "Sue" Melba Enoma Hensley

With profound sadness we announce the passing of “Sue” - Melba Enoma Hensley our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2020. She left us while sleeping peacefully surrounded by family in her home she loved so much. She was in her 101st year. Born in Fouke, Arkansas, to Robert and Hattie Stewart on August 18,1919, she witnessed incredible changes to her world in her 101 years. Sue, the baby of her family, grew up a happy carefree girl surrounded by love from her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. She played basketball in high school and did pole vaulting. Sue met her husband Burrell Hannah Hensley, Jr. of Fouke, Arkansas and married on December 7, 1940. B. H. served as a Sea Bee for the United States Navy in World War II. After his service they settled in New London in 1945 where they lived for 42 years before moving to Henderson. She was the beloved mother of Terry Hensley and his wife Kathy of College Station, daughter Cindy Hensley Madden of Euless, proud grandmother of Melanie Hensley Ramirez and her husband Ryan of Denton, Lauren Madden of Euless, Leslie Madden Kronenberger and her husband Ed of Houston and Layne Madden Taylor and her husband Jeff of Euless. She was an excited great-grandmother of Teddy, Austin, Luke Kronenberger and Logan Madden. And she was the beloved Aunt Sue to so many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 57 yrs, B.H, sisters Jo Barker, Gladys Russ, Ida Vernon, brothers Chester Stewart, ‘Boose’ Stewart, Jack Stewart, Clifford Stewart, Tom Stewart, Ruben Stewart, Orville Stewart along with nieces, nephews and many, many dear friends. She loved them all. They loved her. Sue lived a full life as a loving wife, mother, homemaker, care giver and friend. She was actively involved in helping with her children’s school or church. She loved to cook, kept an immaculate house, was highly skilled with a crochet hook, and enjoyed her sewing club luncheons with her special friends. A farm girl at heart, growing flowers was also a passion. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. We would like to thank Sue’s loving caregivers, Becky Tabor, Barbara Hancock, Brandy Tiez, Margaret Jones, Leslie Jacobs and Compass Hospice, Assist Care services, doctors and nurses for all of their care and dedication. Funeral services for Ms. Hensley will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020, in the chapel at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Parsons officiating. Entombment will follow at Rusk County Memorial Gardens under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. A register book will be available at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, December 26-27, as well as on Monday, December 28, for friends and family to come by and pay their respects.
