Mrs. Ruth Ragsdale

Virginia Ruth Ragsdale was born on May 10th, 1930 in Loving, Texas to Blackburn and Lillian (Slater) Petty. Ruth lived in Graham, Texas until 1954, then moved to Henderson, Texas to live out her life. Ruth was married to Charles Randolph Ragsdale, Jr. for 47 years. Survivors include her sons Dean Ragsdale and wife Ann (Hudman) Ragsdale, David Ragsdale and wife Christi (Spracklin) Ragsdale, daughter Sheila (Ragsdale) Alford and husband Steve Alford, daughter-in-law Diane (McKinney) Ragsdale. grandchildren, Stephanie Jaracz, Josh and Jason Alford, Zachary and Jessica Ragsdale, Cody and Rachael Ragsdale, Chase Ragsdale, Misty Reed, and Kris Rosenkoetter. She has 3 great-granddaughters, 8 great-grandsons and 2 great-great-grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband C. R. (Charles) Ragsdale Jr., her son C.R. (Randy) Ragsdale III, her brother John Petty and her sisters, Etta Weaver, Joy Dickson, and Betty Bullard. Ruth otherwise known as “Mimi” will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved to sew and was a member of the First Baptist Church Craft Room for sewing. She loved making baby blankets and donating them to hospitals for all new mothers. She has received many sweet notes from new mothers expressing their appreciation. Ruth also loved to crochet beautiful blankets and has given them to many who cherish them. Ruth was an avid baseball fan and loved the Boston Red Sox, then the Atlanta Braves and finally the Texas Rangers. She was thrilled to see the Rangers win the World Series. She was their number one fan and loved to talk baseball to anyone who would listen. Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 50 years and loved her church. The last few years was difficult for her attend in person, so she listened to the sermons on TV. The members of her Sunday School class were always very encouraging to her. Ruth loved to travel with friends and family. She traveled with friends, sisters, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren throughout the United States and visited many countries creating wonderful memories. Funeral services for Mrs. Ragsdale will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in the chapel at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Dr. David Higgs officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time on Saturday, at the funeral home.
