Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Phyllis Ann Rives Funeral services for Mrs. Phyllis Ann Rives, age 93, of Cumming, Georgia—formerly of Henderson, Texas—will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Mayhugh officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:15 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery, under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. Phyllis passed peacefully at her residence on June 21, 2025, surrounded by love. Born on March 26, 1932, in Amarillo, Texas, to Marvin and Edith (Sadler) Standifer, she lived a full life enriched by kindness, laughter, and enduring love. Phyllis had a heart as big as Texas and a spirit that lit up every room she entered. She found joy in the simple pleasures—listening to country music, enjoying a competitive game time with family and friends, and creating beautiful crafts with her hands and heart. These were more than pastimes; they were expressions of her vibrant, giving soul. Raised in the Methodist tradition, Phyllis later became a member of First Presbyterian Church, where her quiet, steadfast faith continued to guide her throughout life. Her legacy is one of deep compassion, creativity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marion “Bub” Rives; her parents, Marvin and Edith Standifer; her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Laura Standifer; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Eddie Rice; her brother-in-law, Leon Cook; and her sons-in-law, Jeff Kinney and Tom Hammons. Phyllis’s love lives on through her daughters, Deborah Pipes of Dallas, Joni Boyer of Rockwall, and Lori Kinney Ellis and husband Jerry of Cumming, Georgia. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Shea Andrews and husband Doug of Little Elm, Texas, and Brittany Owens and husband Mark of Heath, Texas. Her five great-grandchildren—Emily Rodriguez, Isabella Andrews, Cove Owens, Coral Owens, and Coast Owens—were the absolute lights of her life. She also leaves behind a cherished extended family, including sister-in-law, Judy Cook of Henderson, beloved nieces and nephews: Jay Rice of Henderson, Donna Dominguez and husband Mike of North Richland Hills, and John David Standifer and wife Shelly of Midlothian. In addition, Phyllis shared a deep bond with a host of dear friends and caregivers at The Villas of Canterfield, where she lived for the past ten years. There, she was affectionately known as Mama Phyllis by many of the staff, who became like family to her and brought her joy every day. Pallbearers will be Jerry Ellis, Jay Rice, Mark Owens, Doug Andrews, Jimmy Hays, and Ray Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial donations to be made to the Bethel Cemetery Association, P.O.
