Mr. O.D. "Doss" Fielding

A celebration of the life of Mr. O.D. "Doss" Fielding, 85, of Henderson, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023, in the chapel at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Kenneth Orr officiating, under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, at the funeral home. Mr. Fielding passed from this life on August 5, 2023, at his residence. He was born August 29, 1937, in Oakwood, Texas and was raised in Galveston. As a kid, Doss had a paper route in Galveston to help support his family. He would later join the Merchant Marines before settling into a career as a brick mason that would span over 60 years. He worked for Taft Maddox at the beginning of his career before starting his own company that he operated for many years and was still working when he was able. Mr. Fielding was a hardworking man that left his mark on many of the homes and businesses in the East Texas area. Throughout his life, Doss was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved being with family, sharing a meal, laughing and telling stories, and he had a heart for children. He recently began visiting First Baptist Church where he attended Tommy Freeman's Sunday School Class, and he enjoyed the fellowship and playing 42 with the class. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Jarrell Fielding; mother, Norma Mae Fielding; father, Oliver J. Fielding; brother, Charles Fielding; and sister, Robbie Seifert. Survivors include his children, Jarrell Doss Fielding of Henderson, and Debra Jo Odom of Henderson; grandchildren, Julie Denise Rowe and husband Matt, Dustin Ryan Fielding and girlfriend Katheryn Stokes, and Thomas Oliver Fielding, as well as their mother Donna Fielding, Trinity Wayne Wheeler and Olivia Lane Odom, and Matthew Barrett; great-grandchildren, Ivy Analiese Odom, John Brooks Rowe, and Bryce Barrett; brothers-in-law, Tommy Lewis Jarrell and wife Judy of Henderson, and Don Willis Jarrell and wife Debbye of Henderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Dorsey, Lester Starling, Jimmy Fielding, Mark Fielding, Robert Fielding, Stephen Fielding, VJ Czerniak, and Jacky Weisenburg.
