Mrs. Marilyn Langston Lofton

Funeral services for Marilyn Langston Lofton will be Friday, September 12, 2014, 2:00 P. M. at Crawford A Crim Funeral Home, 1414 South Main, Henderson, Texas. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Officiating the service will be Dr. David Higgs, pastor of Henderson First Baptist Church. A time of visitation will be Thursday, September 11, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 P. M. at the funeral home. Marilyn passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2014, at Longview Regional Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Marilyn was born on October14,1937, to Alf and Augusta Langston. She grew up in Wright City, Texas, attending Gaston schools and First Baptist Church in Turnertown, Texas. She loved sharing stories about her childhood and growing up in a close-knit Christian family across the street from the Hunt Oil Camp. On August 5, 1955, she married Donald Lofton from Carlisle, Texas. In 1960, they moved to Henderson, Texas, where she was a member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years. Marilyn worked many years for Entex and later owned and operated The Smart Shop in downtown Henderson. A faithful servant of God, she was well known for her commitment and love for her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her eyes. Marilyn was a person of impeccable character and always a loving supporter to her many friends. She was very proud of her lifetime membership in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Marilyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Paul Oberthier of Longview; and their children and spouses, Justin Langston Oberthier and wife Jennifer of Shreveport and Jordan Lyn Bohrer and husband Nick of Houston; son and daughter in-law, Brent and Cindy Lofton of Vivian, Louisiana; and their children and spouses, Danielle and Chris Bain of Vivian and Derek and Leah Alexander of Vivian; and step-great-granddaughters, Amilee Bain and Piper Alexander. Also surviving her are a special brother, Jim Langston of Shreveport; nephew Conrad Langston of Shreveport; her sister, Ann Blalock of Texarkana; brother-in-law and wife, Bob and Georgia Lofton of Henderson; and brother-in-law, Freddie Lofton of Henderson, whom she cherished for his years of care and attentiveness. Preceding her in death were her husband, Donald Lofton; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Langston. Special thanks to Drs. Rangu, Sharma, Gor, and Koon for their many years of compassion and care and to special friends, Dr. Rodney Henry and Dr. Jay Chastain, for their valued special care. Pallbearers will be Justin Oberthier, Nick Bohrer, Conrad Langston, Derek Alexander, Chris Bain, and Tracy Ainsworth. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Dotson, Dub Dwire, Jack Smith, Lee Bridges, Lynn Smith, and Johnny Jackson.
