Mr. M. V. Hudson

Celebration of Life services for Mr. M. V. Hudson Jr., 86, of New London, will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018 in the chapel of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Rev. Atwell Hankins and Jason Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, at the funeral home. M. V. Hudson Jr. was born in Pone Community in Henderson, TX, December 16, 1931. He was the son of Vanous Hudson, and Essie Mae (Webb) Hudson. M.V. worked as a truck driver for Dickie's Work Clothes Rental out of Henderson, TX, for several years. He was then hired by Texas Eastman in Longview, TX, until he retired at the age of 62 years. He was a member of Texas Eastman Volunteer Fire Department until he retired. M.V. also proudly served on the New London Volunteer Fire Department for 45 years. He also served as mayor of the city of New London for several years which was one of the most favorite times of his life. He loved serving the little City of New London. He was a member of Arp Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vanous and Essie Mae Hudson; brothers, Jack Hudson, James Hudson, Pete Hudson; sisters, Betty Turk, Patsy Hudson, Ruby Hudson; and also son, Rickey Lynn Johnson, of Laneville, TX. He is survived by: his wife of 60 years, Johnnie Ellen (Burch) Hudson of New London, TX; daughters, Vanessa (Hudson) Richardson and husband Ricky of Wright City Community, Gwen (Hudson) Trevino and husband Adam of Henderson, TX, Dee Hudson of Good Springs Community; son, Ronnie Hudson and wife Vicki of Overton, TX; sister, Jan Hudson Day of Orange, TX; grandchildren, Leesa Johnson Buchannan and husband Randy of Winnsboro, TX, Betsy Muneka Meija and her husband of Kilgore, TX, Randy Richardson of Kilgore, TX, Trent Tyra and wife Rachel of Pearland, TX, Mitchell Myrick and wife Sarah of Kilgore, TX, Ross Richardson and wife Whitnie of Overton, TX, Reagan Richardson Hardin and husband Gabe of Tyler, TX, Mark Norwood of New London, TX, Brandy Norwood Brooks and husband Corey of Henderson, TX, Matt Trevino and wife Sarah of Tyler, TX, Cody Hudson, formerly of Overton, TX, Madison Hudson Nichols and husband Amner of Overton, TX; many great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He dearly loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and they loved to hear his many colorful stories of his past adventures. He was witty, comical and quite the prankster to his baby sister, Jan. He also served his country in the Korean War in the United States Army for 2 years. Honorary pallbearers will be great-granddaughters, Caitlyn Purtle, Kristen Purtle, and the New London Volunteer Fire Department.
