Mrs. Lorraine West

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Ruth Lorraine West was held on October 30th, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Laneville Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A Crim Funeral Home with J. Paul Nelson officiating. Lorraine passed from this life on October 27th, 2017, surrounded by her devoted granddaughter, Jessica Jan Moyers and other family members. Above all else, Lorraine West was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. Lorraine was a true matriarch of her family with an undeniable love for her daughter, Tyra West Poole, her beloved grandchildren, Jessica Jan Moyers, whom she always acknowledged as her world, and Cody Ray Moyers, beloved great grandchildren, Savian Lacy and Dylan Moyers, and the newest member of her family her great great grandchild, Sebastian Lacy. Lorraine's greatest joy in life was always being with her family and taking care of her family. Lorraine West was born on April 27th, 1929, in San Augustine, Texas to the late Jeff Paige and wife, Ruth Jeans Paige. Lorraine married Billy Gene West and remained married to him until his death in 1980. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Gene West, her parents and her brothers and sisters, Virgil Paige, Herman Paige, Gladys Milstead, Christine Pirtle, Joyce Ann Gray and Mae Miley. She is survived by one daughter, Tyra Poole and son-in-law David Poole; granddaughter, Jessica Jan Moyers; great-grandson, Savian Lacy and wife Alexa, great-great-grandson, Sebastian Lacy; grandson Cody Moyers and wife Amber, great-grandson, Dylan Moyers; one brother Wayne Paige, sisters-in-law, Virginia Strong and Louise Walker, and a host of special nieces, nephews, other family members, many friends, including Bob Fuller. For more than fifty years Lorraine was a beauty operator. She owned and operated her beauty shop by her home located in Laneville, Texas, for many years prior to moving her business to Henderson, Texas, in which she worked along side Pat Propes until Lorraine retired at seventy-four years old. All of her many clientele, young and old alike, dearly loved having their hair done by Lorraine who treated each and everyone of her ladies and young people with a gentle kindness. Her shop was the gathering place for the people and children of Laneville and elsewhere - a place to enjoy fellowship with each other, being pampered by Lorraine, and just to have fun and memorable times. Many longtime lasting friendships were made in that little beauty shop in Laneville, Texas. Lorraine was the calm strength behind her family and her legacy will live on in all of the lives she graciously touched. She had a lot of love to give and she gave it all........
