Mr. James "Iven" Moore

Funeral services for James Iven Moore, age 85, of Mt Enterprise, Texas will be held at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, February 12, at 2:00 pm with Pete Underwood and Kyle Keeling officiating. Interment will be at Zion Hill Cemetery under the direction of Crawford A Crim Funeral Home in Henderson, Texas. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 12, 2024, at the church. He is preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Jeanie Cates Moore; daughter Alesha Moore Brandon; great grandson Christopher Ryan Curry; parents BJ Moore and Winnie Tucker Moore; brothers Joe Ed Moore, Dawson Moore, Benny Ray Moore and Kenneth “Buck” Moore, sisters Marie Bagley, Mary Nell Byrd and Rachel Buckley. James Iven Moore passed from this life on February 8, 2024, at his home under the care of Hospice of East Texas. He was born May 24, 1938, in Laneville, Texas. He married his wife of 37 years, Jeanie Cates Moore in 1961 and they had two children Alesha Brandon and Joe Moore. In his younger years, he worked as a carpenter and helped build many houses around Rusk County. He and Jeanie opened Jeanie’s Corner in 1988 where he spent the rest of his working years. After Jeanie’s passing in 1998 he met and married Carol McGee in 2002 and gained 3 stepchildren and numerous grandchildren. He was proud of his work but even prouder of the family he helped build. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren well until his very last days. Iven is survived by his wife of 22 years, Carol Skaggs McGee Moore of Mt Enterprise; children Joe and Stayce Moore of Mt. Enterprise, Dennis and Toni McGee of Spring, Texas, Joe and Kimberly McGee of Garfield, Arkansas, and Adonna and Jay McClain of Logansport, Louisiana; grandchildren, Heather and Norman Jones, Emily and Thomas Simmons, Zach Moore and Laramie Johnson, Hunter and Ashley Ammons, Clint and Brandi McGee, Miranda and Andy Nugent, Jennifer McGee, Heather Taylor, Barbi and Carlos Gomez, Justin and Sarah McGee, Josh and Kelly Sweeney, Michelle and Ryan Curry, Jessica and Ryan Migues, Jimmy and Sabrina McClain, and Benjamin Thomas McClain, and 22 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Billy Cates, Stanley Donahoe, Jay Innerarity, Paul Reeves, Jeff Griffin, Jeremy Summers, JR Royce and Gary Matlock. Honorary Pallbearers include Brandon Jones, Tim Brittain and David Williams. The family would like to express a special thanks to Jessica and Pam with Hospice of East Texas who took special care of Iven during his last weeks as well as the church family at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, who have provided meals and prayers during this difficult time.
