Mrs. Irene Seelbach

Mrs. Irene Seelbach, 103, of Henderson, passed away on Feb. 23, 2016 at ETMC Henderson hospital, after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 29th, 1912, in Browndale, Texas, to the late Joe Adam Barrett and Margaret Ruth Barrett. She married William Stroud Seelbach in 1932 and they made their home in Henderson, Texas. Irene was known as “Mother Dear” to her many friends and family. Her face would light up when friends and family would visit, and she was always ready to participate and enjoy family outings, recently joining family at her grandson’s ranch, riding on an all-terrain vehicle to view the land, even at age 103. She remained alert and involved until the time of her death. Mother Dear was known for her gracious and loving spirit, welcoming family and friends to her home with a smile on her face, and love in her heart. She was a sports fan and loved watching golf, the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Most of all, Mother Dear loved doing for others and having family gather at her home for holidays and birthday celebrations. Her southern cooking recipes have been passed through the generations. She truly demonstrated the love of Christ to all she met and was a long-time active member of the First Baptist Church. In earlier years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband with the RV Good Sam’s Travel Club, was an active member of the Eastern Star, and loved meeting monthly with the Needle Art Sewing Club. She is survived by her three children, Curtis (and Shirley) Seelbach, Wayne (and Luisa) Seelbach, and Janet (and Robert) Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband Stroud Seelbach; brother, Col. Wallace Barrett; grandson Charles Seelbach; son-in-law, Carl Furqueron; and daughter-in-law, Anne Seelbach. Mother Dear had an extensive family tree with 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and many extended-family grandchildren, great-grand children, and loving nieces. She will forever be remembered and missed. Special thanks to Dr. U. S. Walgama, Assist Care, Henderson ETMC nurses, and personal home caregivers, Connie Richardson, Dianne Caldwell, and Debra Harris for their loving care and support. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mrs. Seelbach will follow at 2:00 pm on Saturday in the chapel at the funeral home with Dr. David Higgs and Rev. Don Edmiston officiating. Interment will follow at Rusk County Memorial Gardens under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Eric Seelbach, Kim Traylor, Sean Seelbach, Karl Seelbach, Kris Seelbach, and Kevin Seelbach. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church new children's building at 207 W. Main St., Henderson, Texas 75652, or the charity of your choice.
