Mr. Ira Dale Cooke

A celebration of the life of Mr. Ira Dale Cooke, 50, of Henderson, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Trinity Baptist Church with Bro. Michael Cary officiating, under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:30 PM on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the funeral home. Mr. Cooke passed from this life on March 3, 2025, in Henderson. He was born March 21, 1974, in Henderson where he lived most of his life. As a young boy, he was involved with the Boy Scouts of America. As a junior high and high school student he was always with the guys playing D & D. Dale graduated from Henderson High School in 1992 where he ran cross country, was on the powerlifting team, track and field team, and played football. After high school, Dale joined the Navy and then lived in Florida for a few years before moving home. Throughout his high school and young adult years, he worked at The Smokehouse, Denny’s, and Oberthier Glass and Mirror. He later began working in the construction business where he worked for several individuals, most recently with Orr Construction. Dale had a great sense of humor and loved his animals which he could never have just one. He was also a gifted artist and loved playing Storm Fall where he was a member of the Second Sons team known as the chart guy. Mr. Cooke was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church where he was saved and baptized as a teenager. He was preceded in death by his father Dale Hamilton Cooke, grandparents Edward and Mary Neeley and Ottis H. and Otis Leona Cooke, and his brother Marc Mayfield. Survivors include his mother, Beckey Cooke Hornsby of Henderson; son, Zachary Dale Cooke of New London; sisters, Gina Sawyer of Coldspring, Kawanah Cherry and husband Chuck of Tyler, and Rebekah Cooke of Henderson; close nephew and niece, Geoffrey Kohlhaas, and Charissa May and husband Zachary and their children Violet and Phineas; significant other, Tracy Dowling of Henderson; step-dad, Tim Hornsby; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends; and the mother of Zach, Miranda Alexander and her children Gabrille and Michael. Pallbearers will be David Sledge, Ricky Lee, Robert Black, Danny Hornsby, Wayne Griffith, Jonathan Nash, and Jason Puryear. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to help Beckey defray the costs of final expenses may be made directly to the funeral home at 1414 S. Main St, Henderson, TX 75654.
