Mrs. Dorothy Box

Dorothy Ray (Womack) Box passed away peacefully at Sunrise Assisted Living in Ft. Worth, Texas. Celebration services will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Henderson, Texas at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2014 with Rev. Roger Ray Box and Rev. Candice Klein officiating under the direction of Crawford –A. Crim Funeral Home in Henderson. Dorothy passed away on December 30, 2013. She was born in Haynesville, La., but lived most of her life in Henderson, Texas. Dorothy was a survivor of the New London School Explosion and remained a strong supporter so no one would ever forget the precious lives that were lost. She met her husband Roger while they were attending Business College in Tyler, Texas. She followed him to San Francisco where he was assigned to go to Okinawa in World War II. After the war, they came back to Henderson and made their home. She worked for Standard Oil Company in Tyler, Texas and Henderson Clay Products in Henderson until her retirement. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Beta Sigma Phi, The Modern Study Club, the Henderson Women’s Forum, Chairman of the Zoning and Planning Committee of Henderson, and a member of the Republican Party. Dorothy had friends from all walks of life and she considered this a special gift from God. God Bless all of you. She was proud of her children but especially proud of all her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; a younger brother, Edwin Womack; a nephew, Bryan Ray Womack; a granddaughter, Laurie Sue Box; and by her husband Roger Russell Box. Survivors include: Son, Roger Ray Box and wife Ann of San Antonio, Texas; Daughter, Annetta Box Magee and husband Stan of Sugar Land, Texas; Brother, Max V. Womack and wife Wanda of Atlanta, Texas; Grandchildren, Stephanie Adams Dike and husband Michael of Ft. Worth, Corrie Box and Sarah Grace Box of San Antonio, Annetta Marie Box of Dallas, Mary Box Brabant and husband Sean of Houston, Betsie Box Allen and husband Jon Mark of Flower Mound; Great-Grandchildren, Marshall, Benjamin, and Elizabeth Dike of Ft. Worth and Isaac, Charisse, and Caleb Allen of Flower Mound; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6 p.m. in the evening until 8 p.m. in the evening on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Crawford A. Crim Funeral Home. Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Henderson, Texas and graveside services will be in Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Crawford –A. Crim Funeral Home in Henderson. Pallbearers will be Bill Boren, Bob Reed, Tom Laney, Jimmy Chapman, Bruce Hillin, John Tieken, and David Campbell.
