Mrs. Brenda Moon Carlock

Funeral services for Mrs. Brenda Moon Carlock, 81, of Henderson, will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in the chapel at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Dr. Matt Pitts officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Mrs. Carlock went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 22, 2026. She was born on January 31, 1945, in Marshall to the late Jack and Orene (Fults) Hayner and was reared in Karnack. She graduated from Karnack High School in 1963 and received her Bachelors degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. Later, as a mother of two little boys, Brenda would earn her Masters degree from SFA. She was driven to be well educated and credentialed. She went on to a long and fruitful career in education, teaching English and ELA. Brenda began her teaching career in Carlisle before spending the majority of her career at Henderson Middle School and finally retired from Mt. Enterprise ISD. Brenda has lived in Rusk County for 60 years, spending the majority of that in Minden where she was a member of Minden Baptist Church. She played the piano at the church for 50 years where she also taught Sunday School. She was a gifted baker though she shied away from cookies. She also loved flowers and tended to her beautiful flower beds. Brenda could decorate for any occasion and liked to look for antiques as well. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Walter Don Moon Sr., son Toby Jack Moon, grandson Andrew Moon, and her brother Jackie Hayner Jr. Survivors include her husband Randy Carlock of Henderson; son Donny Moon and wife Ashlie of Winnfield, Louisiana; daughter-in-law Wendy Moon of Minden; grandchildren Nate Moon, Avery Moon Huddleston and husband Drew, Emily Moon Standley and husband Spencer, and McKenna Moon; great-grandchildren Walter Henry Huddleston, Landry Standley, and one more on the way; Randy’s daughter Carla Sue Self and husband Donald of Henderson and their son William; special cousin Beth Hayner Martinez of Henderson; close nephew Stacy Hayner of Henderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Pallbearers will be Nate Moon, Ty Hayner, Stacy Hayner, Marty Hayner, Bryant Hayner, and Parrish Payton. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.crawfordacrim.com.
