Mrs Bonnie Marie Abernathy Jones

Mrs. Bonnie Marie Abernathy Jones of Beeville, Texas, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 16, 2013. She was greeted by her husband of 64 years – Homer Jefferson Jones. She was born in Panola County to William T. and Gertice Abernathy on August 3, 1918. They preceded her in death. Also preceding her were her brothers, George Abernathy and Quentin Abernathy, a sister, Epsie Lee (Richard) Hull, and her son-in-laws parents, Monroe and Emma Finke. Surviving her is a loving daughter, Jeffie Kay (Phillip) Finke of Beeville,Texas; her loving grandchildren, Christian (Cara) Finke of Comfort, Texas, and Shannon Finke DeByle of Beaufort, South Carolina; her precious great grandchildren, Colton, Gage, Kendall, and Aubrey Finke of Comfort, Texas and Mitchell and Allyson Nestler of Beaufort, South Carolina and her sister-in-laws, June Abernathy of Carthage, Texas, and Peggy Abernathy Dyer of Gladewater, Texas; many relatives and close friends. Mrs. Jones graduated from Carthage High School. She married Homer Jefferson Jones on November 8, 1939 in Henderson, Texas. She, her husband and daughter, lived in Henderson for many years. They moved to Texas City, Texas in October of 1953, and to Houston, Texas, in winter of 1963. After retiring from J.C. Penney Co. accounting Department, she and husband (retired V.A. Commission State Service officer) moved back to their home in Henderson, Texas, in the late 1970’s. After losing her husband in 2003, she moved to Beeville, Texas, to be near her daughter and family. She was a resident of Woodridge Nursing Home at the time of her death. She was a dedicated wife, mother/ grandparent, and talented homemaker. She was active in many church, community, and family activities. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Henderson, Texas. Pallbearers will be her grandson, Christian Finke; her great grandsons, Colton Finke, Gage Finke, and Mitchell Nestler; and nephews, Ronny Abernathy, Richard Reed, Steve Hull, Harry Hull, Mark Abernathy, Larry Abernathy, Brent Abernathy, and Kent Abernathy. Honorary Pallbearers are nephews, Billy Welch, Jimmy Welch, and Larry Welch and cousins, William Russell Jones and David Bell. Her Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 26, 2013 in the Crawford A. Crim Chapel. Family visitation at 1:00 P.M. will precede the service. Following the service her burial will be in Waldrop Cemetery next to her husband under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home of Henderson. Officiating the ceremony will be the pastor of First Baptist Church of Henderson, Rev. David Higgs. He will be assisted by family members. Condolences may be made online at www.crawfordacrim.com.
