Mr. Roy G. Brown

September 30, 1934 - September 9, 2017

Funeral services for Mr. Roy G. Brown, 82, of Henderson, will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Crawford - A. Crim Funeral Home with Mike Parker officiating, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. A committal will follow at Waldrop Cemetery under the direction of Crawford - A. Crim. Mr. Brown passed away on September 9, 2017, at Henderson Health and Rehab. Mr. Brown was born on September 30, 1934 in the Brooks Community in Panola County, Texas to the late Mr. Burnice Royal Brown and Bonnie Irene (Gentry) Brown. He served his country honorably in the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Navy. Mr. Brown moved to Colorado in 1964, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Colorado Construction and Smitt Construction. In 1977, Mr. Brown relocated back to Henderson, where he enjoyed continued success as a fiddler by way of Bluegrass bands and even becoming a Texas Fiddle Champion. He was preceded in death by his parents, B.R. Brown and wife Bonnie; as well as a sister, Nelwyn Parker. Survivors include his sons, Robert R. Brown and wife Nancy of Pine Hill, and Roy Gene Brown, Jr. of Naples, Florida; daughter, Ursula Tullis and husband Bobby of Beckville; sister, Rosemary Brown Young Luker of Fairplay; the mother of his children, Virginia Brown; grandchildren, Nicole Cameron, Brandy Williams, and Sarena Newman; seven great-grandchildren; as well as many other friends, relatives, and loved ones. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Salvation Army at PO Box 1959, Atlanta, GA 30301 to help with hurricane relief. Please designate Hurricane 2017 on all checks.
