Ms. Patsy Barksdale Neely Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

A celebration of the life of Ms. Patsy Barksdale Neely, 82, of New London, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2022, in the chapel at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Rev. Romnie Scott and Rev. Bill Laubenberg officiating, under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday, at the funeral home. Ms. Neely passed from this life on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Christus Good Shepherd Hospital in Kilgore. She was born August 20, 1939, in Wewoka, Oklahoma and was raised until the age of 7 on her grandparent’s farm in Okemah, Oklahoma. Patsy moved to Overton in 1947 and went on to graduate from Overton High School in 1957. She would go on to attend business school in Dallas and worked for an insurance company early on in her adult life. She also worked for the Boy Scout’s headquarters in Houston before settling into the role of homemaker. Patsy loved cooking, and her friends and neighbors were often the beneficiaries of her hospitality. Anyone who knew her will claim that she had a heart of gold. You never had to guess where she stood on a situation, and you knew any compliment was truly genuine. She relished time with her friends and family attending local events, car shows or vacationing. The close relationship with her Overton classmates of ’57 brought her such joy. Patsy served as the Vice-President of the Overton Ex-Students Association. Patsy was a member of New London Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and serving on several committees. She was a member of the UMW and served on mission trips. She also loved to volunteer at Newgate in Longview and the Overton-New London Food Pantry. She was preceded in death by her parents J.C. and Iva (Deathrage) Barksdale, grandparents Marcellus D. and Paralee (Geurin) Deathrage, brother David Land, niece Jo Beth Land, best friend and the love of her life Robert “Bobby” Loveall, as well as several aunts, uncles, and other family members. Survivors include her daughter, Kelly Loveall Sharp and husband Chris of Helotes, Texas grandchildren, Catherine P. Sharp of Helotes, Texas and Michael A. Sharp and wife Crystal of Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico; great-grandchildren, Felicity, Oliver, and Jane Sharp; and a host of cousins, other family, and many friends.
