Ms. Olga Reed

Memorial services for Olga Reed, 86, of Henderson, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2015 in the chapel of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Randall Gill officiating under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. She passed away on July 6, 2015 at Autumn Leaves Nursing and Rehab. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the funeral home. Olga was born on July 15, 1928 in Henderson on South Main Street. She was preceded in death by her parents Don and Sue Bowden of Laneville, and sister Gail Clarck. Olga graduated from William Adams High School in Alice, Texas in 1945 and attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX, Texas A&I University in Kingsville, and graduated from Baylor University in Waco in 1950. She was always a proud Baylor Bear! Olga was a life long fan of the New York Yankees, Scarlett O'Hara, and Rhett Butler. She barrel-raced during her college years, and she lived and raised her first two children in the jungles of Tournata, Liberia, West Africa and Tournavista, Peru with her husband Jack, who worked for R.G. LeTourneau. Olga was a mother, friend, and counselor to many of her children's friends, even going so far as to write their Senior themes over the years. She was an East Texas Medical Center Henderson volunteer for several years, but she was best known throughout Henderson and Rusk County for her dedication as Circulation Manager with the Henderson Daily News for 30 years. She also crocheted afghans for countless friends over the years. Survivors are: son Jim Reed, daughter Suzanne Reed, son Ted Reed and wife Cheryl, son Lex Reed and wife Shelley, grandsons Wes Reed and Race Reed, and granddaughter Zoe. Other survivors are Prissy, her dachshund, and Babe, her cat. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Henderson Animal Shelter at 400 W. Main St., Henderson, TX 75652, and/or the charity of your choice. The family would like to say a special word of thanks to ETMC Henderson, Autumn Leaves Nursing and Rehab, and Angel Care Hospice for their loving and tender care of Olga. Gone with the wind......
