Mr. Johnny Denton

November 16, 1962 - September 28, 2021

A celebration of the life of Mr. Johnny Denton, 58, of Gilmer, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Glenwood First Baptist Church in Gilmer with Bro. David McGee and Bro. Wade Mayberry officiating. Mr. Denton passed from this life on September 28, 2021, at his residence. He was born November 16, 1962, in Nacogdoches and was raised in Longview. Mr. Denton has lived in Gilmer for the last 37 years where he was a member of Glenwood First Baptist Church. He was a welder by trade and worked for various companies. He was a gifted welder and was known for making custom smokers. He loved to coon hunt and enjoyed going to the auction. Above all, Johnny loved his family, kids and grandkids, and he took care of his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Reider; grandmother, Mollie Green; brothers, Tony Reider and Michael Denton; uncles, Tobe Barrett, James “Buster” Barrett, Bob Barrett; aunt, Ruth Husband; and his dog, the best coon dog, Buck. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Tina Denton of Gilmer; father, Griff Reider of the Monroe Community; children, Tammy Denton and fiance Tony Pitt of Longview, Hollie Denton and fiance Jarred Mings of Gilmer, Johnny Denton III of Gilmer, and Buddy Denton of Gilmer; siblings, Ricky Reider of Kilgore, Connie Reider of Kilgore, Janice Swearingen and husband Rex of Nacogdoches, Cynthia Lewis and husband Ronnie of Katy, and Renda Spearman and husband Anthony of New Caney; grandchildren, Justin Denton, Cheyenne Denton, Chris Wohlscheid, Johnny Denton IV, and Paislie Mings; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
