Mrs. Helen Page Brooks Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Helen Louise Page Brooks, 88, passed away at her home in Canton, Texas on January 29, 2019. Helen was born on January 26, 1931, in Benson, Louisiana to Arthur B Page, Sr. and Hazel Bissell Page. She graduated from Opelousas High School in 1950. Helen was a skilled seamstress and worked in several dress factories in the East Texas area. She and R.J. lived in the Dirgin Community for over 60 years. Helen was always involved in her children’s activities including the ARC of Rusk County, the Sheltered Workshop and was a faithful advocate for the rights of individuals with Down Syndrome. She was active at Liberty Baptist Church, volunteered at the Samaritan House in Tatum and taught Sunday School and VBS for many years. She enjoyed reading and crocheting for Project Linus, family and friends. She was preceded in death by parents; daughter, Jane Brooks; and brothers, A.B Page, Jr. and Henry Page and sister-in-law, Joyce Carter. Helen is survived by her husband of 68 years, R.J. of Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Paige and Chris Sanders of Canton; granddaughter, Torri Sanders of Dallas; grandson, Chase Sanders of Canton; sister, Juanita Andrepont of Opelousas, LA; sister-in-laws, Maude Page and Marie Page of Lafayette, LA, Martha Gilliam of Bolivar, MO, and JoAnn TiIlison of Henderson,. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved very much. Graveside services for Mrs. Brooks will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019, at Liberty Cemetery on CR 397 in Rusk County. Interment will follow under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Friday, at Liberty Baptist Church.
