Funeral services for Mr. George B. Taylor, Jr., 71, of Henderson, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2021, in the chapel at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral home. Interment will follow at Overton City Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday, August 25, at the funeral home. Mr. Taylor passed from this life on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. He was born on July 3, 1950, in Henderson and was raised here in Rusk County. George moved several times during his working career and ended up in Baytown in 1992. He was an iron worker and crane operator in the construction industry with stints at Brown and Root, Zachary, and Fish Construction to name a few. When not working, George loved hunting and fishing and greatly enjoyed NHRA. He liked watching old westerns especially if John Wayne was the star. Mr. Taylor served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict and was stationed in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Vietnam Veterans of America. He was preceded in death by his father, George B. Taylor Sr.; mother and step-father, Yvonne (Gunn) and James Hankins; son, Christopher Taylor; brother, John Taylor; and sister, Ellen Debler. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Becky Taylor; children, Michael Taylor and wife Tara, Shelley Eitel and husband Stephen, and Jeremy Taylor and wife Sandra, all of Baytown; siblings, Douglas Hankins Sr. and wife Debbie of Troup, Barbara Sanders of Turnertown, Jimmie Katherine Hankins of Troup, and Harold Hankins and wife Jennifer of Weatherford; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. Pallbearers will be Michael Taylor, Douglas Hankins Jr., Gary Vestal, Stephen Eitel, Wynester James, Tony Pierce, Harold Hankins, and Taylor Reynolds. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fisher House of Michael E.
