The family will receive friends a half hour before the service at the cemetery. She passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Houston Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land. Later she went on to attain a Masters of Education from the University of Texas at Tyler. She was also involved with the Rusk County Poetry Society, and was a past president of the Athletic Booster Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Archie and Eva Maddox. Survivors include: son, Samuel Rhoades and wife Lora of Sugar Land; grandsons, Haden and Grayson Rhoades of Bellaire; granddaughters, Nicole Rodesney of Long Beach, CA, and Amber Vasquez of Sugar Land; niece, Janice Eidel of Sun Valley, ID; and special lifelong friends, Dr. Michael Dennis, Orenthal Johnson, and Lonnie and Linda Hammett. The family would like to express a special debt of gratitude is to her extended family at the Hamptons at Meadows Place in Stafford, TX., where she resided for the last 9 years.
