A celebration of the life of Mr. Avery Eugene “Gene” Knuckles, 81, of Mt. Enterprise, will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Bar None Cowboy Church with Jason Taylor officiating. The family will receive and greet friends following the regular service at the church. Mr. Knuckles passed from this life on February 28, 2022, at his home in Mt Enterprise. He was born April 6, 1940, in Morehouse, Missouri to the late Avery and Minnie (Gamble) Knuckles and was raised there until the age of 10 when he moved to Axtell, Texas. As a child, he was very intrigued with machines and how they worked. He made his first motorcycle using an old bicycle and a lawn mower engine. That began his love to ride motorcycles. This transitioned into a love for adventure and riding of all kinds. He even taught his daughters how to ride and took them on many camping and motorcycles trips. Mr. Knuckles served his country in the Army National Guard and later became a machinist and worked for Reynolds Metal Company. After retirement, he moved to Mt. Enterprise in 1998. Gene wasn’t just a machinist he went on to work with wood. He loved making things from frames and tables to building kitchen cabinets for his wife. He even made the sawmill used to build the cabinets Gene could fix anything and was known for his ingenuity. He was a member of Bar None Cowboy Church. He loved the people of his church and served in many ways. He was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings. Survivors include his wife of nearly 63 years, Vivian Lee (Thrasher) Knuckles of Mt. Enterprise; daughter, Jeana Lee Gonzales and husband Ronnie of Pearland and their son David Allen Gonzales and wife Leila of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and their sons Gianni, Maddox and Eli, and their daughter, Veronica Lee Gonzales and husband Eric Taylor, and their son Nicholas Ray-Duncan Gonzales; daughter, Kathryn Ann Nigro and husband George of Henderson and their sons, Daniel Avery Nigro and wife Hali, Dominic Anthony Nigro, and Donato Alessandro Nigro and his fiancé Erika Minich; and daughter, Sandra Eugenia Marler of Mt. Enterprise and her daughter Candice Lee Knuckles and her children Louis Paul Georgi and Isabella Eugenia Georgi; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
