Mr. Troyce W. Cleghorn

Christian Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Troyce W. Cleghorn, 97, of Henderson, will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024 at St. Judes Catholic Church in Henderson, with Father Joe Kannampuzha officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Old City Henderson Cemetery under the direction of Crawford - A. Crim Funeral Home of Henderson. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2024 at the funeral home. Mr. Cleghorn passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024 in Henderson. He was born October 7, 1926, in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Mr. John M. Cleghorn, and Callie A. Ferguson Cleghorn. He was preceded in death by; sister Naomi L Cleghorn, and his wife of 34 years, Leona Olivier Cleghorn. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Faye Miley Gresham Cleghorn; nieces Marlys L. Thierry with husband Gerry, Deborah A. Bilotta, and nephew David D. Buff with wife Paula. His five stepchildren from Leona, John Bell, Tobin Bell, Martha Nugent, Allison Field, and Suzanne Batchelor. Also by Faye’s children Lois Jackson with husband Charley, Rick Gresham with wife Dana, and Trudy Masters with husband Lee, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Military Service: He enlisted in the Texas State Guard on October 13, 1942, at the age of 16. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy on November 8, 1944, at the age of 18. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on July 9, 1946 at the end of WWII, then he was in the National Guard of the United States until May 7, 1953. Education: He attended Kilgore Junior College graduating with an associate degree in engineering. Career: Right out of college he was hired by Gulf Oil in Houston and worked for them for 35 and ½ years. When he retired from there in June of 1983, he was the Director of (mainframe) Programming Education. He loved his families, music, reading, travel, photography, and the study of genealogy. For many years his hobby was woodworking and he made beautiful furniture for his home and for family and friends. He was a licensed Ham radio operator for many years with friends all over the world.
