Mrs. Susan "Sue" Bennett

Mrs. Susan “Sue” Bennett went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 30th, 2017 in Tyler, Texas after a brief illness. Services will be held Saturday, September 2nd, 2017, at 10 am at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home in Henderson, Texas, with Dwain Knight officiating under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. Visitation will immediately follow. Sue was born to S.D. Oldham, Sr. and Stella Rosser on June 7th, 1943 in Chatham County, North Carolina. She attended public school in Sanford, North Carolina and following graduation from high school she met and married her husband of 55 years, Gene Bennett, on January 6th, 1962. Their union was blessed with 3 children who, with their 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons, were the pride and joy of her life. The family relocated to Texas in 1962 and in the late 1970s she began her career in the Food Service industry and retired from West Rusk ISD in 1990. Following her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, and tending her plants and flowers as she was blessed with a green thumb. It’s a well-known fact that all who knew her loved her. She will be missed deeply, but will definitely be remembered for her quick wit and upfront honesty. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her 2 brothers, S.D. Oldham, Jr. and David Oldham, her great-grandson Drew Morris, and her best friend James Bennett. Those left behind to cherish her memory are son Sammy Bennett and wife Cathy Howard of Pine Hill, TX, daughter Beverly Hayden and husband Phillip of Henderson, TX, daughter Crystal Lingle and husband Doug also of Henderson, grandson Blaine Morris and wife Lauren of Little Elm, TX, grand-daughter Chelsea Smith and husband Clayton, grandsons Logan Morris and Zachery Lingle, grand-daughter Hallie Lingle, and great-grandsons Ayden Polve and Bryce Smith, all of Henderson. She also leaves behind a loving sister, Judy Evans of Seguin, TX and sister-in-law Jo Williams of Henderson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Sue. She also loved and is survived by Ricky Morris of Marshall.
