Mr. Roice Weatherford

Funeral services for Mr. Roice Weatherford, 88, of Kilgore, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Trull officiating. Interment will follow at New Salem Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home in Henderson. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the service time at the church. Mr. Weatherford passed away February 25, 2026, at his residence. He was born October 22, 1937, in Laneville, Texas to Ivin and Rena Fay (Richardson) Weatherford and was a lifelong resident of Rusk County and graduated from Laneville High School. As a young man, Roice had a passion for drag racing — both on the track and on the street. When the boys were told to sit back and hold on, they knew the race was on. He loved his family with his whole heart. He also had a deep love for bluegrass music, and he and Gwyn made many memorable trips to Mountain View, Arkansas, to attend the annual festival. Roice was saved and baptized at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in 1955 and continued to serve the Lord throughout his life and became a member of Emmaus Baptist Church in Lakeport. He worked as a Machinist for Axelson, which later became Halliburton, until his retirement. Roice was also a cattleman, both during his time at Halliburton and Axelson and after his retirement as well. Roice was preceded in death by his parents, Ivin and Rena Fay Weatherford; and his brothers and sisters, Donald Weatherford, Jerry Weatherford, Dottie Sue King, Bobby Joe Weatherford, and Doris Pool. Survivors include his wife, Gwyn Weatherford of Kilgore; sons, Randy Weatherford and wife Denise of Henderson, Duane Weatherford and wife Jennifer of Whitehouse; step-children, Stephen Trull of Lake Fork, Paula Sowash of Kilgore; grandchildren, Travis, Randy Jr., Rebecca, Linsie, Hayley, Matthew, Russell, Wade, Ty, Alexis, Stephanie, Candice; sister Jackie Weatherford of Lufkin; several great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends. Pallbearers will be Tom Noe, Travis Sowash, Ronnie Strong, David Perry, Wade Trull, and Brayden Pike. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Weatherford Jr., Stephanie Trull, Isaac Kimberlin, and Mike Sneed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
