Mr. Robert Wayne McDougal

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Wayne McDougal, 75, of Henderson, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Brother Joel Cobbs officiating and Jody Simmons speaking. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the funeral home. Mr. McDougal passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, in Henderson. He was born on October 18, 1946 in El Paso, Texas to Herman and Iris (Cox) McDougal and has been a resident of Henderson since 1974. Robert served his country in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1967 and was on the maiden voyage of the USS America, where he fueled jets on the flight deck. After his service, he entered a carpenter's apprenticeship to learn to build from dirt to finish. In 1985, Robert joined the East Texas "Oil Patch" with Sun Oil Production and worked in the East Texas area before moving to offshore work until his retirement. After his retirement from Sun Oil, he started his own business, McDougal Contracting, in 1998 and worked until his second retirement, handing things over to his nephew, Jason Smith. He enjoyed his work as both a Master Carpenter and a Petroleum Operator. Robert's retirement was short but happy, spent cooking, grilling, spending time at Lake Fork with family and friends, hanging out on the patio, playing cards or dominos, playing golf and many other things that he loved. He was a member of Grandview Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Iris McDougal; one brother, Douglas McDougal; and his brother-in-law, Roy Strong. Survivors include his wife, Martha Jane Strong McDougal; daughter, Amanda McDougal-Jones; son-in-law, Keith Jones; grandsons, Dylon Jones, Gavyn Jones; brothers, Herman McDougal and wife Marilyn of Dayton; sisters, Julene Clemons and husband Raymond of Magnolia, Claudia French and husband Walter of Willis, Carleen Huffman and husband Frank of Montgomery; sister-in-law, Diane McDougal of Montgomery; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pallbearers will be Bruce Bailey, Randy Murphy, Jimmy Simmons, Jody Simmons, Jeff Strong, and David Whitaker. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Jones, Dylon Jones, Gavyn Jones, Jason Smith, Ricky Whitaker, and Terry Whitaker.
