Mr. Neil Pennal

A celebration of the life of H. Neil Pennal, 85, of Henderson will be on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 2:00p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Henderson with the Reverend Candice L. Klein officiating. There will be a family gathering at a later date for the interment at Hawkins Cemetery in Hawkins, Texas. Neil went to his eternal rest on Friday morning, June 5. He was preceded in death by his parents Hugh Allison and Flora Belle Stephens Pennal and two brothers, Dr. Hugh A. Pennal and Harold G. Pennal. After graduating from Hawkins High School, he received a B.S. in Psychology from Baylor University in 1954 and a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Texas College of Pharmacy in Austin in 1956. He married Mariella Vaughan on August 15, 1953 at the First United Methodist Church of Hawkins, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mariella Vaughan Pennal and four daughters: Laurel Lynn and husband Dr. Carl Grant; Janeil "Jan" Pennal; Mari Jill and husband Dr. Mark Littlejohn, and Kimberly and husband Billy "Rocky" Coe. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Ryan Mitchell Grant and wife Allison; Reagan Mariel Grant Cooke and husband Jim; Ross Mathis Grant; Christopher Lake Littlejohn and wife Jennifer; Tyler Pennal Littlejohn; Jackson Vaughan Littlejohn; Kameron Vaughan Coe and Karson Lawrence Coe; and three great-grandsons: Caden Grant Manshack, Mitchell Allen Grant, and Jaime Ryan Grant. Neil moved to Henderson in 1957 and was owner and operator of Pen-Ray Pharmacy for 40 years. His nature was gentle and kind, and he treated people with dignity and respect regardless of their ethnicity or station in life. Neil was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Henderson for 58 years, and served as a Sunday School teacher and Ruling Elder. Serving on numerous church committees, he also faithfully visited those who were in hospitals and nursing homes. He was a past member of the Board of Directors of Henderson Memorial Hospital, Children's Advocacy Board, Camp Fire Board, Lions Club, and Baylor Alumni Association. Visitation will be Sunday evening, June 7 from 6:00 until 7:30p.m. at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home in Henderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Neil's eight grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Henderson, P.O. Box 773, Henderson, TX 75653, or the charity of your choice.
