Mrs. Nadine Berry

A Celebration of Life will be held for Nadine Berry on Friday, June 5th at 2:00 at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David higgs and Dennis Rivers presiding. Visitation will begin at 1:00 prior to the service. Burial services will be at the New Prospect Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. Nadine to some, Nake to others, and Ding Ding to many died on June 1, 2015 at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home. She was born September 10, 1919 in Rusk County. She was 95. Her parents were Tommy and Cora Lee Young and she was the last of twelve brothers and sisters. Nadine accepted Christ as her personal Savior in 1933 at New Prospect Baptist Church in Rusk County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Chapel Sunday School class. God gave her a special gift of service and concern for others. She was always compassionate for those who were sick or had lost a loved one. Food was the "tool" of her ministry. Her Italian cream cake was a remedy for anyone. She loved her kitchen and was always ready to treat her friends and family to the many great things that she was able to prepare. After her health began to fail, she found a new tool to comfort those in need; a simple phone call from her trusty recliner. Her concerning attitude was returned to her by the visits, cards, and phone calls from her many friends during her last years. For that, her family will always be grateful. Although she never considered it work, her joy was to keep the children at First Baptist Church in the nursery and preschool for nearly 27 years. Ding Ding, as she was known, enjoyed the love and affection of her kids long after they were grown and had kids of their own. Many stayed in touch with her by phone calls, cards, and visits. She loved her kids and they loved her. She set an example; a good example! Her first love on this earth was her family. Although persons of limited education and mean, she and her beloved husband of 49 years, Rayford created a home that was full of love, caring, and direction. Their sons and their wellbeing were the focus of their lives. They made God part of their family. Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Cora Lee Young; brothers, Jessie Young, John Henry Young, Preston (Pete) Young, J. T. Young Jr., and Rev. Charles Young; sisters, Mary Lou Bailey, Mamie Lois Nations, Dolly York, Ann Trimble, Bonnie Marie Brewer, and an infant sister. She is survived by two sons, Tommy Berry and wife Terry of Henderson, Bobby Berry and wife Margaret of Buda, TX. Also, four granddaughters, Laurey Martin and husband Chance of Henderson, Lyndsey Register of Henderson, Sally Berry of Buda, and Molly Jones and husband Jason of Dripping Springs. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, Garrett Martin and Grant Martin of Henderson, Kamryn Register of Henderson, and Jenna and Jill Jones of Dripping Springs. Also, she is survived by a sister-in-law Jane Young of Pflugerville, TX along with numerous nephews and nieces. Pallbearers will be Johnny Young, Jimmy Dale Young, Bill Nations, Chance Martin, Terry Register, Garrett Martin, Ken Hill, and Grant Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Cliff Brannon, Howard Lee, Jason Jones, Mike Young, Jamie Young, Jerry Young, and Billy Joe Young. A special thanks to all of Mother's Friends who made her life a little Better these last days. We also want to thank Mother's caregiver, Nancy Thomas, and the staff at Autumn Leaves for watching over our loved one.
