Mrs. Melba Dean Wallace McCormack

Melba Dean Wallace McCormack was called to her Eternal Home in Heaven early Friday morning, May 23, 2025, just shy of her 95th birthday. Melba was born June 1, 1930 in Patrick Community of Brachfield to Arthur Watson Wallace and Nancy Erin White Wallace. She was born with snow white hair that earned her the name “Pearl” by many who knew her. Melba attended the Patrick school and her senior year she transferred to Henderson High School, graduating in 1947. Upon graduation she attended McNee School of Business. She married her sweetheart, Jimmie McCormack and they enjoyed 68 years of marriage before his death on May 22, 2017. Melba was a member of First Baptist Church having joined the church in 1950. Melba worked numerous places through the years including the City of Henderson, Dunlap Department Store, the ASCS office, and Henderson Federal Savings and Loan before her retirement. Melba’s favorite and most enjoyable time of her life was raising two children, Nancy McCormack Gibson and James Randall (Randy) McCormack. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife to Jimmie always putting family first. Preceding Melba in death were her parents, husband, and brother, Arthur Dale Wallace and wife Margaret Wallace. Survivors include her daughter Nancy Gibson and husband Mark, and son Randy McCormack and wife Phyllis. Grandchildren are Megan Gibson Bateman and husband Conor of Dallas and Ashley Boone and husband Kevin of Longview. Great-grandchildren include Sloane and Brooks Bateman and Ashton and Beckham Boone. She is also survived by two nephews and their wives, Lee and Lisa Wallace and Joe and Deana Wallace. Also dear to Melba’s heart is Bettye Lynn Brannon, DeAnne Cooper Tennison, and Jan Marie Hamblett who were like lifelong daughters to her. Services for Melba will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 4:00 pm at Lakewood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends following the graveside at the cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Gibson, Bob Haynes, David Harris, Paul Powell, Richard Smith, Joe Wallace, Lee Wallace, and Jimmy Watson. The family would like to especially thank Teresa Belmarez, Lacea Hankins, Crystal Johnson, and Choice Hospice for their loving care.
