Mrs. Martha Koch

Martha Joan Koch, a beloved wife, mother & “Mamaw”, passed away at 84 years of age on June 5, 2024. She was born Martha Joan Boggan on February 6, 1940 in the Fellowship Community, Jasper County, Mississippi. Joan was raised on a farm with two brothers and a sister. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg in 1961. That same year she married the love of her life John Lawrence Koch. Joan & “Larry”, as she lovingly called him, raised three children together. In the early years Joan was a kindergarten teacher and homemaker who created many loving and happy homes in multiple cities and states for her family as her husband was being relocated and working his way up through Justin Industries for Acme Brick Company. Many weekends, wherever the family lived, would find them boating or camping on a nearby lake while making time to attend Mass with her family. They finally settled in Fort Worth, Texas in 1980 and lived there many years until Larry’s retirement in 2006. Joan was an avid reader, a gardener, an athlete and enjoyed any other activity that would get her out in the sun. After Larry’s retirement, they moved to the Piney Woods of East Texas to the small community of Lone Star to enjoy their golden years together. Left behind to cherish her memories are her husband, John “Larry” Koch of Lone Star; their children, son-Joe Koch and wife Cecilia of Glenfawn; daughter-Julie McCollough and husband Tim of Pryor, OK and daughter-Beth Cook of Fort Worth. As well as numerous grand-children and great grand-children. She is also survived by her brother, Robert E. Boggan and wife Voncille of the Fellowship Community, Jasper County MS and her sister, Susan Seale and husband Larry of Corinth, MS. Joan is preceded in death by her father-Johnny Pleasant Boggan; mother-Sarah Ellis Boggan and brother-Johnny Mack Boggan. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org. Regarding funeral arrangements, Joan’s wishes were to have a private family graveside service. Burial will be at Glenfawn Cemetery on Monday June 10, 2024 under the direction of Crawford-A.
