Mrs. Lois Hendrix

Funeral services for Mrs. Lois Hendrix, 94, of Henderson, formerly of Woodville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in the chapel at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Dr. David Higgs officiating. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, at Big Sandy Cemetery in Polk County under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 15, at the funeral home. Mrs. Hendrix passed from this life on May 12, 2023, at a local assisted living facility. She was born December 16, 1928, in Washington, D.C. to the late Robert and Lillian (Wilder) Alexander and moved to Texas during World War II. Lois later attended the University of Houston. She was a loving wife and mother that dedicated her life to her children and family. She enjoyed sewing and working with flowers in her garden. Mrs. Hendrix also loved working with the Girl Scouts, and later in life, she became passionate about children’s literacy and making sure children had books to read. She has been a member of First Baptist Church Henderson for the last several years and loved to study the Bible. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years L.D. Hendrix, son Dean Hendrix, son-in-law Dave Thomas, and her brother Bobby Alexander. Survivors include her daughters, Linda Dvorak and husband Bill of Frisco, Pam Thomas of Henderson, Valerie Sheppard and husband Guy of College Station, and Anne Pool and husband Wendell; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; as well as a host of other family and many friends. Pallbearers will be John Pool, Jake Pool, Jerry Hendrix, Olen Overstreet, Grant Dvorak, Seth Ardoin, Guy Sheppard, and Clayton Sheppard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Missions Committee of First Baptist Church at 207 W. Main St., Henderson, TX 75652, the Alzheimer's Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, Samaritan's Purse at PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607, or to any program available to help with children's literacy.
