Mrs. Linda Jean Ashby Soape

Graveside services for Mrs. Linda Jean Ashby Soape, 81, of Henderson, will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Maple Grove Cemetery with Rev. Frank Lane and Chaplain Harrison Baugh officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 7, at the funeral home. Mrs. Soape passed from this life on April 4, 2026, in Henderson. She was born September 16, 1944, in Henderson to the late M.W. and Lola Mae (Strickland) Ashby and lived most all of her life here. Linda dedicated her life to taking care of her home and family but had also worked outside of the home. Most may remember her from Moore’s Mini Mart where, if you were a regular, she would have your items ready for you at the counter when you walked in. She was a people person and simply took the time to get to know her customers and enjoyed their visits. She had also worked in accounting with Henderson Memorial Hospital and worked as bookkeeper alongside Billy at Billy’s asphalt business. Mrs. Soape was a woman of great strength and faith, and she lived out her faith. She had served as church secretary for St. Paul’s Methodist Church where she also sang in the choir and was currently a member of Carlisle Baptist Church. Linda was also a devoted wife and mother. It gave her great joy to take care of her daughters and was always involved in their activities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Melinda Soape Orr. Survivors include her husband of 61 years Billy Soape of Henderson; daughter Lynelle Soape Blaylock and husband Bo of Henderson; grandchildren Jordan Wells and wife Myah and Dalton Blaylock and husband Noah; sister Judy Ashby Lewis of Henderson and nephews Scott Lewis and Michael Lewis and their families of Kingwood; and son-in-law Carl Orr of Brachfield and his children Kevin Orr and Amanda Orr. The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to Harbor Hospice including DeRhinda, Dee, Kaci, and Chaplain Harrison, and to LaQuita “Jo” Jones for their loving and tender care for Linda.
