Mr. Leon Moore

A graveside celebration of the life of Mr. Wm Leon Moore, 82, of Henderson, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the Old Shiloh Cemetery, 11490 CR 3131 S., Mt Enterprise with Dr. David Higgs and Dr. Doyle Sumrall officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to come by the funeral home all day Friday, September 11, to pay their respects and to sign the register book. Mr. Moore passed away peacefully from this life September 10, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born February 3, 1938 in Rusk County to the late Charles and Agnes Moore of Mt. Enterprise. As a lifelong resident of Rusk County, Mr. Moore graduated from Mt. Enterprise High School in 1956. He served in the US Army, the National Guard, and his community as a member of the City of Henderson Volunteer Fire Department and Rusk County Rescue Unit. During his career, Mr. Moore worked for Lacy & Sons Plumbing, the City of Henderson Water & Sewage Dept., Henderson Clay Products, and he later retired from Atlantic Richfield (Arco). He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Henderson. He was also an avid barbeque cook, who loved cooking for and sharing his cooking with others. His annual Christmas Luncheons were enjoyed by many friends and community servants. His unwavering commitment to his wife, Jean, and love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the highlight of his life; a devoted husband, and father, who cherished the time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both his parents, brother, James Moore of Arp; and brother-in-law, Harry Green of Mt. Enterprise. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jean Smith Moore of Henderson; son, Charles Moore and wife Amy of Long Branch; daughter, Tina Springfield and husband Todd of Laneville; brother, Howard Moore and wife Sharron of Henderson; sister, Mary Green of Mt. Enterprise; sister-in-law, Linda Moore of Arp; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephew; and a host of other family and friends. The family would like to say a special thank you to The Hospice of East Texas Staff and acknowledge their loving care of our family. Pallbearers will be Jacob Moore, Travis Springfield, Trenton Springfield, Jed King, Allen King, and Stanley Berry.
