Mrs. Judith Gladson Rousseau

Funeral services for Mrs. Judith Gladson Rousseau, 82, of Atlanta, Texas, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 29, 2024, in the chapel at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Cory Page officiating. Interment will follow at Welch Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time on Friday, at the funeral home. Mrs. Rousseau passed from this life on March 22, 2024, at Legend Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Ft. Worth. She was born November 11, 1941, in Snyder to the late Willard and Flora Vida (Holley) Gladson. She was raised in Snyder, graduating from Snyder High School in 1960. She then attended Southwest Texas State College, now Texas State University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Throughout her life, Judy lived in Austin, Mt. Pleasant, Marshall, and Atlanta and spent the last few years close to family in Ft. Worth. She taught Kindergarten briefly and spent most of her life as a seamstress. She was extremely creative and used her talents to make clothing for her family, color guard uniforms for the high school band, and even upholster furniture for the high school theatre department. Judy was very involved in all of her children’s activities throughout their lives. Mrs. Rousseau loved to travel and go camping with her husband and family. She also enjoyed gardening and was an avid sports fan, especially if the Dallas Cowboys or Texas Rangers were playing. Judy had a beautiful voice and sang with "The Trion Trio" in her high school and college years. She was always very involved in the church, teaching Sunday School and singing in the church choir. Mrs. Rousseau was a long-time member of Tanglewood Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elvin Earl Rousseau, son Duane Rousseau, brother Royce Gladson, and sister Janis Page. Survivors include her children, Laurinda Burks and husband Stephen of Plano; Susan Fitzgerald and husband Jimmy of Henderson; Melinda “Mendy” Waid and husband Bryan of Ft. Worth, and daughter-in-law, Patricia Rousseau of Rogers, Arkansas; Grandchildren, Shelby, Christopher, and Matthew Burks; Macey, Hope, and Luke Waid; and Sydney and Nora Rousseau; brother, Ronal Gladson of Snyder; sister, Gayna Cowan and husband Cecil of San Marcos; sister-in-law, Lavelle Matlock of Mt. Enterprise; brother-in-law, George Page of San Marcos; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. The family would also like to acknowledge and express their appreciation to the loving and caring staff at Legend Oaks. Pallbearers will be Christopher Burks, Matthew Burks, Luke Waid, Adam Page, Caleb Cooley, Cameron Cowan, Clint Cowan, and Jett Hendrix.
