Jonathan Holland

Jonathan Edwin Holland, 18 years young, was born March 9, 2005, and went to be with the angels on the evening of November 1, 2023. “Johnny Boy,” “Fat Boy,” “John Juan Haun” and “Mama’s Mini Me” will always be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness and work ethic. Those who knew Jonathan have lost a shining light in their lives. He was truly a gentle giant, and we are blessed for the time God gave us with him. We find comfort in knowing he has gone to prepare a place for us in the skies. Jonathan, the cherished and beloved son of Nathan & Karen Holland and loving big brother of Grayson T. Holland, spent his lifetime in Henderson. From not knowing what to do with a newborn to raising a hard-working, kind and humble young man, his parents are at a complete loss. As a boy, Jonathan enjoyed anything outdoors. From riding his bicycle, jumping on the trampoline and playing with his dog Bailey, he was an active kid and always kept us on the move. You could find Jonathan wearing his camo with “baby bear” and a toy knife in his hand. His parents taught him how to hunt & fish at a young age and those were hobbies he found joy in. Jonathan’s love of nature & the outdoors was alive throughout his life. Jonathan’s best times were spent at the races, at the lake, hunting or just hanging out in the shop with his family & friends. Although his soul is in Heaven, his body will spend eternity with his ashes spread in the woods of Jasper along the Neches & Angelina Rivers, in the cypress trees and waters of Caddo Lake and other fond places. Jonathan attended Henderson schools and graduated in May 2023. For a handful of years, he was part of the fishing league and always seemed to catch the “keepers.” Spending time in the shop with his dad, Jonathan learned the skill of welding. He was able to use his talent with metal in creating shop projects, as well as award-winning creative arts pieces for the Rusk County Youth Project Show. In August, Jonathan started the Electrical Lineman Program at Texas State Technical College in Marshall. He wanted to pursue a career that he had seen several family friends be successful in over the years. Not only was Jonathan talented in many different areas, but he was also a young entrepreneur. Fat Boy Lawn Care is a lawn & landscaping service that Jonathan built and developed over the last few years. All his clients praised him for being such a hard-working boy and many say he had the work ethic of generations past. “The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops.” 2 Timothy 2:6 Jonathan loved his family deeply and will be missed every day by his parents; his little brother, Grayson T. Holland; extra brothers Carter Pace and Trace Reaves; special sister Mollie Johnson and the love of his life, Sarissa Akin. Surviving family includes grandparents, Carol Powell and Joe & Pam Holland; great-grandparents Wayne & Nita Taylor all of Henderson; aunts & uncles, Amelia & Walker White, Wesley & Cheyenne Holland of Henderson and Naomi Wills of Bullard; cousins Lance White, Brock White, Tate White, Russell Wayne Holland, Kayley Allen, Esau Powell & Levi Powell and a countless list of close buddies. He was preceded in death by grandfather David Powell, uncle Jason Powell and great-grandparents; James & LaVern Parker, Evelyn Powell, Bill & Fay Holland and Sammie High; great-great relatives Herman & Donnie High, Uncle Edwin High, Uncle Edwin (Teet) Powell and O.W. & Mary Lou Taylor. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church of Henderson on Monday, Nov. 6, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Ladd Sheets officiating and visitation before the service starting at 12:00p.m, under the direction of Crawford A. Crim Funeral Home. The family requests that those attending wear the colors orange or black to reflect pride in Jonathan’s business, Fat Boy Lawn Care.
