Mr. John W. Staples

John W. Staples, 60, of Henderson was born March 10, 1955 in Dayton, OH to the late John and Carol Staples. He grew up in Nashville, TN until 1969 when his family moved to Henderson, TX. John married the love of his life, Donna Jo Wallace in 1975 and had three children. He learned the trade of upholstery from his close friend Patrick Kilpatrick beginning in 1974 at Pat & Johnny’s Trim Shop. He later became the owner and operator of Staples Upholstery in 1978 where he specialized in many facets of restoration including drapes, blinds, car/truck/motorcycle interiors, furniture, travel and racing trailers and marine interiors. The integrity and quality of John's work spoke volumes throughout Henderson and the surrounding communities where he worked for customers including People’s State Bank, Citizen’s National Bank, Tans & Hands, Jalapeno Tree, Herschel’s Family Restaurant, Wilkerson Trailers, Competition Trailers, Gum Springs Baptist Church, Faulkner’s Antiques, several car dealerships in East Texas and countless individuals. John’s character revolved around selflessness, reliability and humor. When someone called and needed help, he would gather his tools in eagerness to solve the problem at hand, often with creative solutions and a joke or two. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Chuck Staples and his sister Anette Beasley. Survivors include: wife Donna Staples of Henderson; children Joshua Staples and wife Sherry of Tyler, Angie Clark and husband Jason of Limoux, France, and Micheal Staples of Austin; grandchildren Lilia Clark, Caleb Clark, Micah Clark, Andrew Clark, Arianna Clark, and Addison Staples; brothers David Staples of Carthage and Jimmy Staples of Henderson; and sisters Evette Walton, Ellen Jordan, and Joanie Strong, all of Henderson. His memory will be cherished and he will be missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters and friends. The family and close friends had a private remembrance on Saturday, December 26th. There were no formal services held.
