Mr. Jerry King

Memorial graveside services for Mr. Jerry King, 82, of Henderson, will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park cemetery with Rev Mike Ledbetter and Pastor Jason Taylor officiating. A memorial book will be available from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. King passed on April 13, 2025 in Henderson, Texas. He was born July 8, 1942 in Hobbs, New Mexico. Jerry lived a life of adventure most of us could only imagine while spending time on the O Bar O Ranch that his family managed in New Mexico. That cowboy life taught him how to endure long, hard hours to get a job done well and would become the basis of his incredible stories enjoyed not only by his family but also by the members of his Sunday school class at Henderson First Baptist Church. Jerry was an inspiring example to others in being dedicated to family, sharing his faith and having a servant’s heart. He was an extremely artistic person providing personalized sketches for family events, custom cards and even on lunch sacks, but he was most known for his elaborate costume designs for the annual Deason Halloween parties that rivaled anything produced in Hollywood. A veteran who served in the Army National Guard, Jerry was the founder of King Coating Inc, an industrial painting company, which he ran for 38 years. His strong work ethic made an impact on family, friends and employees. Mr. King was preceded in death by his father: Jim R King, mother: Thelma Nelson King, his sister: Juanette King Welch and her husband Bill Welch, his father in law: L.H. Davis, his mother in law: Patricia Brandon Davis and his brother in law, Danny Davis. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sandi Davis King, daughter Lisa King Waugh and husband Tommy Waugh Jr, son Tony King and wife Missy Waggoner King, daughter Danna King Herron and husband Jason Herron. Grandchildren: Victoria Waugh Searcy and Michael Searcy, Hillary King Trussell and Daron Trussell, Joshua Herron, Caleb Herron, and Jude Herron. Great grandchildren: Xander Searcy, Keller Trussell, Lola Trussell, Maisie Trussell as well as many other beloved extended family members.
