Mr. Ernie Liles

Earnest Wayne Liles - "Ernie" 76 yrs. of age (07.26.1939- 11.30.2015) passed away Monday evening surrounded by family and friends at his home in Tatum, Texas. Ernie was a life long resident of Tatum, and a graduate in the Class of 1957. He served two years in the United States Army 1962-1964. Ernie loved to hunt, fish, travel, ranch and farm. He carried on a family tradition of farming and selling watermelons that began in 1945, while at the same time working for Trailmobile. In 1965, he married the love of his life, Donna Sue Gant. They raised four children together, taking family vacations, attending sporting events and watching them grow and raise families of their own. Ernie loved to watch his grandkids excel in sports, and was so proud of their achievements. Ernie worked for Texas Utilities from 1978-1998. After retiring, he remained active while helping his sons with their businesses. In September he and Donna celebrated a milestone wedding anniversary of 50 years together. They took a beautiful scenic trip to Branson, MO. They had a picnic lunch in Petit Jean State Park on a beautiful summer day to mark the occasion. Ernie loved to travel, and had traveled the world, to the beaches of Normandy to palaces in St. Petersburg, Russia. He enjoyed his family vacations to Galveston and riding the golf cart with his grandkids on the beach. He was a true and dedicated family man, and was a great provider for them. He was a living example of hard work, loyalty, and love of family. Our hearts are broken, as we struggle with our loss. It is so hard to let a good man go, but in due time we'll be together again. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Liles, his children and their spouses, Don & Amanda Liles, Robin Liles, Randall & Shelley Liles, and Mike & Kristy Good along w/many grandchildren: Lacy, Dillon, Lexi, Hunter & Emma, Spencer Liles, Micah Jade and Logan, Landon & Mikah Good. His brothers and sister, Tommy Liles, Richard (Bub) & Holly Liles, Eddie & Mendy & Lyle Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Liles, mother Minnie Bell Liles Reeves and brother Jesse Liles. Funeral services for Mr. Liles will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, December 3, 2015 in the chapel of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Jason Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, December 2 at the funeral home. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the caregivers that played such an integral role in his life, Prissi Owens, Christi Williams, and Nancy.....you each have blessed us more than you know.
