Doris M. McCalpin

Doris Mildred Hardin was born in Sacul, Texas on August 15, 1937 to Roy and Della Hardin. She grew up in Cushing, Texas, and was an accomplished student and basketball player at Cushing High School, graduating with the class of 1955. Doris retired from Henderson Memorial Hospital as a Lab Technologist after more than forty years of service. She attended First Baptist Church of Henderson. Doris loved her LORD and SAVIOR above ALL else. After a valiant battle with cancer, Doris passed away - at her home in Henderson with family and friends at her side. Funeral services for Doris M. McCalpin will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2015 at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home chapel with Rev. James Lee Howell officiating. Burial will follow in McKnight Cemetery in Cushing under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home of Henderson. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Hardin; mother, Della Gregory; sister, Melba Strickland; father of her children, Marlan Ray Barnes; step-father, John Gregory; and husband, William O. "Bill" McCalpin. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, James Ray and Donna Barnes of Cushing, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Gay Barnes and Ed Davidson of Henderson, Texas; step-son and wife, Terry and Debra McCalpin of Forney, Texas; Life partner, Arvle Corley; two grandsons, Jamie Ray Barnes and James Lee Howell; four great-grandsons; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Ed Davidson, Jordan Bias, Roger Davidson, Kurt Arnold, Ricky Gresham, and Roger Holcomb. Honorary pallbearers will be Laurie Lockridge, Sue Laird and Holly Liles. The family wishes to express special thanks to Melissa Smith of At Home Healthcare and the nurses and staff at Hospice of East Texas for their great care and concern for our loved one. Doris was a kind, sweet, loving Mother, Grandmother, and Friend with a Caregiver's heart. She will greatly be missed by her family and anyone who knew her. She now rests in the arms of JESUS.
