David Riley

Funeral services for Mr. David Riley, 74, of Henderson, will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 6, 2025, in the chapel of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with his great nephew, Pastor Nicholas Swinford officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, September 5, at the funeral home. David Sherman Riley was born on January 18, 1951 in Texarkana, AR to Mildred and Sherman Riley. Mr. Riley passed from this life on September 1, 2025, in Tyler. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Henderson. David married his high school sweetheart, Brenda and they made their home in Henderson where they had two children, Jennifer and Matthew. They shared 55 years of marriage and made an abundance of memories together. David started his plumbing career alongside David Jarrell and Billy Bob Brady. He later went to work at American Supply where he managed the inside plumbing sales. He worked there for over 42 years even through the transition to Morrison Supply. He enjoyed going back to counter sales where he was able to see many of his longtime customers and friends. David also owned a fiberglass septic business for several years until his health declined. David was a work horse and always stayed busy. He loved to mow and do yard work. He ran a small yard business where he was the King of his Bad Boy mower. After retiring, he spent his time at the farm on a tractor and attending his three grandsons’ activities. David loved the outdoors. He was obsessed with deer hunting season, fishing and loved to go camping. He was a true family man and would love to host family and friends on Memorial Day weekend where he would prepare a large fish fry and tell tall tells and share memories with all. The last several years of his life he had many health problems but through it all he kept his faith in the Lord and his witty sense of humor. David loved to brag on his children and grandsons every chance he had, proud was an understatement when it came to his family. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his father Sherman Riley, mother and step-father Mildred Johnson Newell and Kilby “Shorty” Newell, sister Betty Swinford Delaney, and brother Curtis Riley. Survivors include his wife of 55 years Brenda Riley of Henderson; children Jennifer Riley Adams and husband Nathan of Henderson, and Matt Riley and wife Jessica of Tatum; grandchildren Jaxon and Maddox Riley, and Carter Adams; and a host of nieces and nephews including Terry Swinford, Barry Swinford, Gary Swinford, Larry Swinford, Christy Riley Schwieger, as well as other family and friends. Pallbearers will be Terry Swinford, Barry Swinford, Gary Swinford, Larry Swinford, Billy Bob Brady, and Chris Dobbins. Honorary pallbearers will be Jaxon Riley, Maddox Riley, and Carter Adams.
