Coach Joe Clint Skelton

Funeral services for Mr. Joe Skelton, 81, of Henderson, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 in the chapel of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Sceroler and Rev. Bill Tisdale officiating. Interment will follow in Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home in Henderson.Family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 10 at the funeral home.Joe Clint Skelton was born August 6, 1930 in Henderson to mother Hattie Propes Skelton and father Otis Whitman Skelton. Joe was a lifelong resident of Henderson and a member of First Baptist Church. He was baptized in Christ as a young man and always lived a good Christian life. Mr. Skelton was a graduate of Henderson High School, Kilgore Junior College, and Stephen F. Austin State University. He served in the National Guard and was a coach for the Henderson Independent School District for 37 years where he was a positive influence in the lives of everyone who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: older brothers, Otis W. Skelton Jr. and James G. Skelton; and sister, Dorothy Atkinson; and his faithful dog, Max.Survivors include: his beautiful wife of almost 55 years, Sue Skelton; sons, Ricki Skelton and wife Shannon, and Jamie Skelton and wife Karen, all of Henderson; daughter, Joanie Nations and husband Mike of Princeton; and grandchildren, Hunter Joe Skelton, Haylee Nicole Skelton, Kelli Lynn Skelton, Clay Michael Skelton, Katy Ann Skelton, and Anthony Nations; and his lifelong friend, Thurman Warren.Pallbearers will be James Campbell, Brett Derveloy, Tommy Matheny, Dr. John Lyn Duran, Coach Kenneth Malone, and Thurman Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Mann, Charlie Franklin, Royce Dunlap, Bob Sanders, Joel Hale, the HHS class of 1949, and all his friends and golf buddies.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas at 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX 75701, and/or the Joe Skelton Memorial Scholarship Fund at Citizens National Bank, P.O.
