Mrs. Cathy Jo Stuart Burks

Funeral services for Mrs. Cathy Jo Stuart Burks, 67, of Henderson, will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 3, 2025, in the chapel at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Josh Blizzard and Chad Townsley officiating. A private family interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, April 2, at the funeral home. Mrs. Burks passed from this life on March 31, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by the family that she loved and adored. She was born November 24, 1957, in Henderson to the late Travis Stuart Sr. and Helen Christine (Hays) Stuart. Cathy graduated from West Rusk High School in 1976 and went on dedicate her life to the care and education of children. This coming August, she would have been in childcare for 41 years. She began this endeavor with Ragley Street Academy in 1984 and went on to start another childcare center before opening Southwood Academy where she was still actively involved. Cathy was the leader of the family, always keeping everything together and “running.” She loved her grandchildren and family with all of her heart. She also loved to travel with her husband, siblings, daughter and granddaughter, and you would most likely find them on a Carnival cruise. Perhaps above all, Mrs. Burks was a devoted Christian, and she was a long-time member of New Life Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Donna Stuart Hamilton. Survivors include Bobby Burks, her loving husband whom she has been with since 2001, of Henderson; children, Christal Blizzard and husband Josh of Henderson, Coy Spencer and wife Ashley of Overton, and Brady Tyson Burks and wife Hallie Jo of College Station; brother, T.A. Stuart and wife Margie Dell of Henderson; sisters, Dianne Taylor, Judy Schultz and husband Bill, and Beverly Burns, all of Henderson; grandchildren, Macie Blizzard, Jett Blizzard, Meyson Kirkley, Zayne Spencer, River Spencer, Bexley Burks, and Quincy Burks; brothers and sister-in-law, Joe and Cami Collins of Henderson, Dana and Mike Cavel of White Oak, and Kelly and Carl McDade of Flower Mound; special friend, Alexandria Hammontree of New London; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Pallbearers will be Paul Morrison, Travis “Swat” Martin, Carl Clower, Charles Helton, Michael Bell, Dennis Hutto, Burl Richards, and Barry Mize. Honorary pallbearers will be Jett Blizzard, River Spencer, Zayne Spencer, and Meyson Kirkley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Life Church at 508 S.
