Mrs. Billie Jo Green

Funeral services for Billie Jo "Meitch" Green, 84, of Henderson, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015, in the chapel of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Higgs officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Green died on May 2, 2015, after a lengthy illness. Billie Jo was born July 17, 1930, in Delhi, Louisiana, to John and Lillian Spiers. Her husband Justin Green, both parents, and three brothers, John Bernell Spiers, W. R. (Dick) Spiers, and Neville Spiers preceded her in death. "Meitchie" was what her twelve grandchildren affectionately called her. She was indeed a fun and delightful grandmother. She not only lovingly fed them an endless supply of her delectable homemade "Meitchie food" but also entertained them with her hilarious one-liners on every subject in the world. . A favorite pastime of the grandchildren would be to take away the best "Meitchie quote" from each visit. When they visited her house they knew they could count on great humor and even greater food Throughout her lifetime Billie Jo enjoyed many travels with her husband Justin. They visited every state in the continental USA, Alaska, Canada, The British Isles, and much of Europe. Billie Jo made the job of homemaking look easy and spent her life serving her family. She was a fabulous cook, an excellent seamstress, and an efficient organizer in every aspect of homemaking. She was also artistic, musical, and creative, as shown by her flower arranging, piano playing, singing, costume-designing, and other creative endeavors. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Henderson. Billie Jo is survived by her daughter, Marilyn and husband Allin Rodman of Waco; son, David Green and wife Tina of Longview; daughter, Carolyn Green of Longview; son, John Green and wife Jackie of Fort Worth; sister, Patty and Don Baker of Longview. Billie Jo is survived by grandchildren Erin Roye, Clay Rodman, Hayley Roye, Blake Rodman, Alison Wallace, Judd Green, Nathan Green, Rachel Rodman, Adam Boatwright, and Jacob, Jordan, and Joel Green. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Green's two Hospice nurses, Donna Tenner and Annette Shacklett, are remembered with fond gratitude. Pallbearers for the funeral will be Blake Rodman, Judd Green, Nathan Green, Adam Boatwright, Jason Wallace, and Britt Spiers. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home.
