Mrs. Betty Jane Barr

Graveside services for Mrs. Betty Jane Barr, 91, of Henderson, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen with Dr. Mark Kuykendall officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. A register book will be available at the funeral home 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., February 23 - February 26, for friends and family come sign and pay their respects. Mrs. Barr passed from this life on February 22, 2023, at a local assisted living facility. She was born December 19, 1931, and raised, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to the late Edward and Bessie (Kovabeck) Dolezal and graduated from Bartlesville High School. She would go on to study at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater before receiving her Bachelors degree in Library Science from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska. Betty Jane would go on to move to McKinney, Texas, while living in McKinney she had a passion for working with 6th Graders in Sunday School and loved going as GA camp counselor for many years. She later on moved to Princeton, Texas, with her husband Roy where Mrs. Barr worked as the church librarian for King Memorial Baptist Church. She moved to Henderson in the summer of 1993. In Henderson Mrs. Barr was a member of First Baptist Church where she worked as the assistant librarian, and she was involved with The Round Table group where she used her skills for sewing and arts and crafts. She also loved and adored her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents the Dolezals, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy E. Barr, and sisters Mary Ann Anderson and Alice Fenska. Survivors include her daughter, Alicia Bishop and husband Damon of Henderson; grandchildren, Marla Kuykendall and husband Mark of Whitehouse, Melanie Whitehead and husband Gifford of Montgomery, and Monica McNew and husband Lance of Henderson; great-grandchildren, Kylee and husband Josh, Ufayse, Marcus, Abigail, Aleah, Ashlynn, Morgan and Mike, Laurell, Mia, and Tara; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. The family would like to say a special word of thanks to Autumn Leaves, Angel Care Hospice and Donna Tenner for all of their support and care over the last few years. Pallbearers will be Gifford Whitehead, Lance McNew, Mark Kuykendall, Josh Farrar, and Marcus Kuykendall. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.crawfordacrim.com.
