Mrs. Barbara Jean Douglas

Graveside services for Mrs. Barbara Jean Douglas, 83, of Henderson, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Mt. Hope Cemetery with Bro. Joe Orr officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023 at the funeral home. Barbara, who loved to be called “Hun” “Momma” and “Grandma” by her husband, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids departed her loving family on October 14, 2023. Barbara was born in Bristow, Oklahoma on July 26, 1940, to Raymond & Christina Cole. After graduating from high school, Barbara met the love of her life Charles “Doug” in Corpus Christi at a stop light. After knowing each other for only two weeks, Charles and Barbara married and deployed with the Navy to Jacksonville, Florida and then to Quonset Point, Rhode Island. Together they had 3 children, Kim, Tammy, and Charles. Barbara enjoyed spending time in the kitchen creating meals for her family and handmade crafts for all to enjoy. She was a homemaker who was actively involved in her children and grandchildren’s school events. She was the Scout leader for Blue Birds/Brownies and Camp Fire Girls. She was also heavily involved with the Henderson PTO, Henderson Boys Baseball Association, Rusk County Pilot’s Association and East Texas Antique Tractor Club. She spent many hours researching and compiling information for the History of the Rusk County Airports Booklet. Barbara was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but she had an enormous heart. She will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her friends and family. She truly loved each of them and if you knew her, you knew it. When her time came, she carried herself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before her. She will be missed dearly. Barbara is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles; Daughter Tammy (Glenn) Prater, Son Charles Douglas III: Grandchildren Dillan (Shannon) Norman, Seth Norman, Krista (Andrew) Barber, Lance (Hillary) Douglas, Trevor Prater, Danielle (Clayton) Cole; Great Grandchildren; Hannah Ratcliff, Nathan Ratcliff, Jade Prater, Cali Prater, Charlotte Douglas; and sister, Judy Klaevemann. She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Christina Cole, sister Patricia Everett, Brother Robert Cole, Mother-in-Law Helen Douglas, Daughter Kim Norman and Daughter-in-law Deann Douglas.
