Mr. Matt Thiessen

Matt Thiessen - Loving Husband, Father, and Friend Matthew Thiessen, 43, was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He left the world too soon, passing away unexpectedly on Saturday Aug. 31, 2024. He was born March 6, 1981 in Elgin, Illinois. From working in the oil field to developing a landscaping and lawn care business, Matt was not afraid of hard work. He served his community as Fire Commissioner of Flint. Matt was larger than life: he never met a stranger. His laughter and energy filled up any room he was in. He was a loving and caring husband and father - a true man of compassion. Matt was the rock and anchor for his family, and he meant everything to his wife Amy; whom she said is "her forever husband!" Above all, he loved the Lord, and was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Reformed Episcopal Church in Tyler. Survivors include: his loving wife of almost 24 years, Amy; his children, Michael and wife Laura, Aaron, Noah, and Chloe; granddaughter, Layla Wahlmeir; parents, Bill and Lyn Thiessen, and Cheryl and Robert Murphy, mother-in-law, Karin Eubanks and husband Kip; grandmother, Frances Etter; three sisters, Debbie Mosciano and husband Mike, Christie Pickel and husband Donnie, Tori Chambers and husband Drew; and brother, Sam Murphy and fiancé Hannah; brother-in-law, David Eubanks; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Jean Grover, and grandfather, Lewis Etter. Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6, 2024 at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home chapel with Bishop Walter Banek officiating. Interment will follow at Crims Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024 at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Michael Thiessen, Aaron Thiessen, Noah Thiessen, Sam Murphy, Stephen Lee, and Matt Draffen. Honorary pallbearers are Justin Wren and Omar Ibarra.
