Mr. Byron M. Duncan

Byron M. Duncan (89) passed away in his home in Henderson, TX March 26, 2016. He was born to Effie and A.G. Duncan, Sr. in the Hickey Community March 24, 1927, where he resided his entire life, except for a few years in the Army-Air Force during World War II. He was married to Louise Bradbury in 1949 and they had two sons, Charles B. Duncan and David H. Duncan. He was a lifetime member of South Side Baptist. He was preceded in death by parents A.G. Duncan, Sr. and Effie Duncan; son Charles B. Duncan; wife Louise Duncan; brothers Curtis Duncan, A.G. Duncan, Jr. and DeWayne Duncan and sisters Viola Wallace and Faustene Bundick. He is survived by his son David H. Duncan and wife Melissa of Henderson and their son Cory D. Duncan and wife Mandy, and grandchildren Aubrey Duncan and Addison Duncan of Montgomery, TX and son Jonathan W. Duncan of Henderson, TX. Byron is also survived by his present wife Linda S. Duncan of Henderson and her children Debra Harless and husband Dennis Harless and son Kenneth Bowdoin, Jr. of Longview, Texas. Her grandchildren John Harless and wife Juliet of Charlotte, N.C., Krystal Harless, Sarah Page and husband Dustin of Gilmer, TX, Michael Bowdoin and Kelsey Bowdoin of Dallas, TX. Byron loved to work and inspired his two sons and many other young men and women to give their very best in working hard. His many friends and relatives say, "He taught me how to work hard and how to enjoy working." He was known in the Henderson area as a dozer operator, rancher and farmer who raised the best watermelons and purple hull peas. Byron was a true friend to many who knew him and we all miss his presence. Pallbearers will be: Jim Young, Shannon Young, Harold Howell, Tony Bradbury, Terry Bradbury and George Conway. Honorary pallbearers: Cory Duncan, Jonathan Duncan, Phillip Davis, Ronnie Bradbury, Ricky Johnson, Dee Hudson, David Husband and Mack Strong. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. Funeral services for Byron will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, in the chapel of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Rev. David Higgs officiating. Interment will follow at Davis Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home.
