Funeral services for Ottis E. Brooks, 90, of the Chapman community, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Blossom Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Matthew Thomasson and Rev. Macky Buchanan officiating. Masonic graveside services will be held in Bridges Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home in Henderson.

Mr. Brooks died July 27, 2010, at Hospice of East Texas Homeplace. He was born March 1, 1920, in Jasper. He spent most of his life in Chapman. He was a member of Blossom Hill United Methodist Church and was a retired welder from Eastman Kodak. Mr. Brooks was a rancher and farmer. He spent most of his life hunting and fishing, and he loved his bird dogs, and he was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a 52-year master mason at Pine Hill Lodge No. 95 where he was a past worshipful master. He fought in World War II and was a veteran of the Marines, and he was a member of VFW Post 8535.

The family will receive friends at 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2010, at the funeral home.

Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by: his wife of 62 years Iris Hays Brooks; granddaughter, Brandi Brooks; six sisters; and one brother.

Survivors include: children, Eddie Brooks, Pam Boles and husband Buddy, Mark "Bones" Brooks and Connie Kemp, all of Chapman; grandchildren, Sabrina Keating and husband Bruce of Texas City, Tessa Williams and husband Ted of Conway, Ark., Mikki Brooks of Chapman, Krissy Schwettmann and husband Jesse of Chapman, Josh Kelsey and wife Katherine of Chapman, Sally Hays Brooks of Henderson, and Tina Hare and husband Clay of Goodsprings; fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Joan Brooks of Jasper.

Pallbearers will be Josh Kelsey, Colby Brooks, Jesse Schwettmann, Ed Harris, Dean Hancock and Rick Hale. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.
